AlShaya Group, the franchisee that owns the rights to Starbucks in the Middle East, has announced plans to lay off over 2,000 employees due to difficult trading conditions resulting from consumer boycotts related to the recent conflict in Gaza, Reuters reported.

Meanwhile, the UAE has launched a unified Work Bundle, a single platform for all companies to streamline all services to hire and renew employees’ visas. The procedures of five federal and local authorities have been combined in one platform.

Aside from this, Sharjah will connect to other UAE cities with a train station announced on the Etihad Rail network. Trains running from the station will transport thousands of people a day around the UAE to and from Sharjah.

In Saudi Arabia, NEOM has announced Gidori, an exclusive private golf community set amid the breath-taking coastal hills of the Gulf of Aqaba. The latest addition to NEOM, the evolving regional development in northwest Saudi Arabia, features ambitious architecture that blends with the dramatic natural landscape.

On the technology front, Instagram, the photo and video sharing social networking mobile application owned by Meta, has revealed a new secret game for users. Available on Instagram’s direct messaging (DM) feature, users can now play the game on private chats and groups. The new update is part of the many DM features rolled out by Instagram earlier this week.
