AB Espresso: Abu Dhabi named world ’s safest city in 2025

Abu Dhabi has been ranked the world’s safest city for the ninth consecutive year by online database Numbeo. The emirate secured first place out of 382 cities in the 2025 rankings, reflecting its continued focus on enhancing security and quality of life for residents and visitors.

On the real estate front, the secondary housing market in Dubai is expected to outpace demand for off-plan properties in 2025. This trend is attributed to an influx of expat families relocating to the city, driving demand for ready-to-move-in homes. Despite this surge, a wave of property handovers in key communities such as Dubai Hills Estate and District One is anticipated to stabilise prices. However, prices in prime and super-prime sectors may experience moderate increases due to limited supply.

Meanwhile, LinkedIn research indicates that 75 percent of professionals in the UAE and Saudi Arabia plan to search for new jobs in 2025. However, 51 percent report that job hunting has become more challenging compared to the previous year. Nearly half of HR professionals in these countries also highlight difficulties in filling roles with qualified candidates, suggesting shifts in recruitment and job application approaches in the year ahead.

Aside from this, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson will participate in the fourth Saudi Media Forum in Riyadh from February 19 to 21, 2025. Johnson will take part in a panel discussion on the future of global media. The event will feature international leaders and experts to explore developments shaping the media landscape.

In other news, billionaire wealth increased by $2 trillion in 2024, reaching $15 trillion, according to a report released on Monday. The study highlights widening global wealth disparities, with a small group of individuals amassing significant resources.
