AB Espresso: Abu Dhabi cracks down on grade inflation

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has begun Phase One of a review targeting grade inflation and record inconsistencies in private schools. The audit covers Grade 12 academic records, assessment frameworks, and student work. Twelve schools have been temporarily barred from enrolling students in Grades 11 and 12 due to non-compliance.

On the real estate front, Dubai’s residential market registered 50,593 transactions worth AED 170.53 billion in Q2 2025, up 15% in volume and 27% in value from the previous quarter. The average price per square foot reached AED 1,793. Prime property transactions totalled 2,367, according to Morgan’s International Realty.

In addition, Mantra Properties and Jacob & Co have partnered to develop Jacob & Co Residences on Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah. The project marks Jacob & Co’s third UAE residential development and Mantra’s first in the country.

Aside from this, the UAE has been ranked in the top 20 globally for mental wellbeing among adults aged 55 and over, with a Mind Health Quotient of 112.5, according to the 2024 Mental State of the World Report. The UAE leads the MENA region in this category.

Meanwhile, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s public identification as a gamer gives the kingdom an edge in esports development, according to Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup. He said this political support distinguishes Riyadh from other global esports hubs such as Los Angeles and Seoul.
