Latest NHS figures analysed by the Post show that 35 per cent of people over 16 living in Preston have been given both vaccinations against Covid-19.
View email online | | | | | May 21, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening It is hardly a surprise that the number of cases of coronavirus are starting to rise again. While we were all (supposedly) in lockdown, there was no chance for the virus to flourish. But we all had to come back out of our homes at some point and last Monday hospitality opened up again, allowing people to meet indoors, in pubs, restaurants, hotels and cinemas etc. So, it was inevitable that the case numbers have started to rise. However, the end of lockdown 2021 is slightly different from what we experienced last summer because this year millions of us have received one or even two vaccinations aimed at keeping us safe. It’s likely, therefore, that fewer people will become seriously ill, even if they are exposed to the virus. We just need to make sure that we still exercise some caution because the more the virus moves amongst the population the more likely it is to mutate, producing variants like the Indian one sweeping through the county at the moment. So enjoy the weekend, but think before you hug.
