| Whenever we are in England Beverley seeks out her favorite drink of choice – ‘Czech Pilsner’! This delicious beer is almost impossible to find on tap in the U.S., but pubs in England serve a variety of Czech Pilsners on draught, and my wife loves them all. Clearly we needed to go to Prague! |
| Visitors entering the Wieliczka mine, 30 miles, (19km ) outside of Krakow Poland descend more than 800 stairs beneath the rolling countryside into a vast and sprawling magical land of dwarves, gnomes, and mythical creatures that all stand guard over a shrine to a national religious icon 1000 feet(330 mtr) below. |
| I stood on the patio of our rental house in the Langhe Hills of Piedmont, Italy. The September morning was cool, and quiet save for birdsong. Overnight fog had blanketed the valley below me and the air smelled like rain. The peaks of the Alps towered in the distance. A deer darted into the tall Nebbiolo grape vines in front of me. I whispered, “Thank you Danilo Nada.” |
| A good dream came true, especially for these two. Allison Baldwin and Ilene Mitnick left their corporate jobs and manifested a B & B in Provincetown, Massachusetts and mastered the “art of staying”. Food is one of their passions and they named their place Roux, which is the French cooking base for many sauces. Roux is a beautifully restored 1870’s Victorian house on Bradford Street in the East End gallery district. |
| Now, 10 years later, I am getting ready again – along with 1600 other volunteers – to staff world’s largest juried folk art market in Santa Fe. Founded as a way to support and celebrate folk art from around the world, the Market has since expanded its mission to train folk artists on everything from design to business and marketing development and to provide year-round sales opportunities for many artists. |

| Nobody really believes that the world portrayed in the cinema is the real world, even when the film in question claims to be based on ‘real events’ or a ‘true story’. Even so, it’s always a bit disappointing to discover that when you sing along with the chorus of Oklahoma beneath your ten gallon hat and with your spurs twinkling down at your heels, that you are in fact in Arizona. |
