Trump's tariff exemptions for iPhones and other devices are only temporary |
It turns out that the exemptions announced by the U.S. on Friday for imported devices such as smartphones and laptops are only temporary. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said on Sunday that the exemptions may only last a month or two, until the U.S. works out a new tariff approach for the semiconductor industry. President Trump appeared to offer an update later in the day when he said that new tariffs on semiconductors chips — and therefore other gear such as smartphones and laptops — will arrive sooner, in the coming weeks ... |
