Makeover moves forward: A 19-block stretch of North Claiborne Avenue is getting a long-awaited facelift, starting with new market and event space between the Lafitte Greenway and Orleans Avenue. Metairie Towers on the market: The Metairie Towers condominium complex, vacant since it was thrashed by Hurricane Ida two years ago, has been put up for sale. Shenanigans alleged in Jefferson: A longtime ally of Jefferson Parish Council member Byron Lee is accused of misdemeanor theft after magnetic campaign decals for Lee's opponent, Derrick Shepherd, were taken off of two vehicles. Simeon Dickerson, a former School Board member, was arrested via summons Monday and Shepherd said Dickerson and Justice of the Peace Mark Spears took the decals while he was speaking recently at a Harvey church.
