Good morning and thanks for joining us. Here are some of the day's top headlines. A big deal: Latter & Blum, the New Orleans real estate company that has dominated markets in Louisiana for decades, has been purchased by the largest residential real estate brokerage in the country. Stephanie Riegel and Adam Daigle have this report on the end of an era in Louisiana business. Another S&WB proposal: Tuesday saw the late filing of a bill that would drastically change the oversight of New Orleans' Sewerage & Water Board. But on Wednesday lawmakers and local officials said another measure to overhaul the agency — but leave the oversight structure intact — is more likely to pass. Ben Myers has the details on the new proposal. Open records under fire: Louisiana lawmakers are considering bills that would gut state’s open records law by shielding from public view many emails, text messages and documents produced at all levels of government. Republicans have proposed three bills that would make it more difficult to get public records from state and local agencies, and some of the provisions appear tailored to the office of Gov. Jeff Landry. James Finn has the story. Thanks for reading, and check out all the latest news, sports and entertainment coverage from The Times-Picayune. Chad |
