| | | | Port Covington no more? Happy Monday, Baltimore. I hope you had a lovely weekend. There's so much we could talk about today. There are charges against the teenage squeegee worker, charged with killing engineer Timothy Reynolds a few months back, being dropped to manslaughter; the Maryland STEM Festival's ongoing events; the poignant reflections Seema Iyer made in our Q&A (see below) noting her leaving the Baltimore Neighborhood Indicators Alliance for a new position; among so many other pieces of sometimes distressing, sometimes uplifting news. But I'll hone in on something that might impact our future innovation and development in a big way. You may know Port Covington, the development project and associated neighborhood south of I-95 and the harbor, from having gone to events at Betamore or other City Garage entities. If not, you've seen the neighborhood every time you've driven on 95 and looked south at all the new development over the past few years. Well, in a few days, the project will have a new name. As The Baltimore Banner reported, the project has endured several identities in the near-decade since Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank and his Sagamore Ventures' affiliates began buying up land in the region. While we don't yet know the new name, the Banner did report that this is being ushered forth by the team at real estate firm MAG Partners that took over the project.
