Joy Yates, Editorial Director

Dear Voornaam,

An Edinburgh festivals season like no other has drawn to a close, and our team of reporters and reviewers are reflecting on a month full of innovation, passion and outstanding performances. If you missed any of our daily coverage, you can catch up here

Meanwhile, our hugely popular Scotsman Sessions have just hit a milestone with a very special performance. We have now hosted 100 exclusive videos from a range of artists since the start of lockdown. and KT Tunstall helped us celebrate in style with an exclusive performance of her brand new song, Anything At All, from her home in Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles. You can watch it here.

As coronavirus continues to dominate news coverage, with lockdown measures reimposed on Aberdeen and then in the Glasgow area, our reporters have been there to cover every twist and turn. In an excellent long-read insight piece, Jane Bradley examined the impact on Scotland's traditional pubs, including fears some may never be able to reopen.

Our focus on quality long-read journalism continues with Dani Garavelli's fascinating interview with a woman who found out her fiancé was an undercover police officer

Finally, we have launched two new regular features. The first comes from Alison Campsie, who will be highlighting the best of Scotland each week. She kicked things off last week with this run-down of the 10 best autumn walks

Meanwhile, our retro specialist David McLean has been trawling the Scotsman's huge photo archive for his new series looking at living memories. He's starting with the 1960s, and you can check out the first part here

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for reading The Scotsman. I'd also like to use it to ask you to consider supporting us by taking out a subscription. I hope you agree that great journalism matters now more than ever, and we couldn’t maintain our standards of quantity and quality without the commitment of our paying subscribers.

Thank you.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy September.

Joy
