The Consumer Electronics Show. CES. Almost 200K people occupying 2.9M square feet of space, strolling through around 4,500 exhibitors showcasing the A-Z of consumer tech. And whether you think it’s overhyped or the greatest thing on earth, there’s one thing we can all agree on, CES sets the tone for the year ahead. But let me get one thing straight, curved TVs and 3D TV are dead. And so may be a few other things we saw! So what about CES 2019? How will history remember this year’s great tech conference? This year, CES should be remembered as standing for Creatively Evolved Stories. Why? In the past few years, there have been no major breakout categories, but deep refinement of the ones that exist, so the ability to tell incredible stories is a gift. And this year - from nostalgic gadgets to the reality of 5G - storytelling and a creative evolution is at the core. So for me this CES will be remembered for “refinement,” taking years and years of ideas and further refining their use. Some products on display will be available in two months and others never, but that’s the beauty of the chaos of CES. |
