Hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas and we're happy to have you back with us for Morning Headlines. From helping build up the Preservation Resource Center in the 1970s to current battles over unique French Quarter buildings, Ann Masson has spent her adult life on the front lines protecting historic buildings in New Orleans. Reporter Stephanie Riegel looks at the half-century of work Masson has put into preserving the historic fabric of New Orleans. The piece is the first in a six-part series profiling those who have been instrumental in saving and passing down the city's unique heritage. And if you'd like to relive the holiday, check out a spread of Christmas Day scenes from across the city by Director of Photography David Grunfeld. Looking toward the future, reporter Tristan Baurick has all the details on a pair of $5.4 million grants aimed at boosting the lagging recycling rates in New Orleans, where only about 2% of all waste gets recycled. Check out all the latest news, sports and entertainment coverage from The Times-Picayune. Jeff |
