Good evening

While there will be many people who are desperately disappointed about no new countries being added to the travel green list and Portugal being removed, there is a positive to be taken even from this.

For years, many of our traditional holiday resorts in this country have been in decline as people have headed off to sunspots around the world.

Look out of the window today and you might wonder why.

If we could guarantee this kind of weather throughout the summer, there would be no reason to battle the crowds and the delays at our airports - apart from the sheer thrill of seeing another part of the world, of course.

So could this be the year when some people, at least, fall back in love with Blighty?

I’d like to think so. I’d hazard a guess that there are more people reading this who have been to Spain/France/Portugal than have taken the high road to the Scottish Isles, enjoyed a walk along one of Northumberland’s fantastic beaches or sunk a pint of local scrumpy in the Cotswolds.

This could be the year!

Have a great weekend,

Gillian
