I used to struggle catching fish on nymphs.  I'd dry fly fish in any situation and usually catch more than I would nymphing.  But that was before I took 3 years to dedicate myself to nymphing.  I came out on the other end preferring nymphing when I first get on the water and can catch 10x more fish than I do even on my best dry fly days.
