Fed study: US wage growth skewed by high unemployment Median weekly US earnings rose by more than 10% in the second quarter despite the unemployment rate reaching its highest level for several decades at 14.7% during April, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco President Mary Daly contends in a new study she co-wrote. The increase does not point to rising salary levels, however, but to increased joblessness among lower-paid workers compared with higher earners.
