BY DOUG GRAHAM | Staff writer After a month of waiting, kids and sweaty adults can rejoice: Liberty Lagoon will officially open July 4 and run through Labor Day. The delays were caused by a shortage of lifeguards as well as general maintenance and work on the park's filtration system, BREC officials said. With Liberty Lagoon unavailable, the Capital Region has been left with few options for swimming this summer. East Baton Rouge Parish public schools are installing modern camera systems on most of the district's bus fleet, a move officials say will help in correctly assigning blame when it comes to student fights, poor driving, vandalism and traffic accidents.
