The state of banking: Until last week, the implosion of New Orleans-based First NBC was the largest bank failure since the 2008 financial crisis. That honor now belongs to Silicon Valley Bank, whose collapse on Friday had many starting the week in fear of whether it could prove contagious. The state office that oversees Louisiana's nine museums hasn't had a permanent director for seven years, has no coherent budget, low morale and can't even track how many people visits the sites.
