Like a good steak, there are keys to grilling a good burger. When I was young, I made nice, dry burgers with the best of them; rarely was there a moist, juicy burger.
Then I worked a grill under the direction of a chef. He taught me to cook a good steak. I was a lot better at burgers after that.
