A $35M indoor sports complex idea

Lafayette tourism officials are moving forward on building a 150,000-square-foot indoor sports complex that they say would draw thousands of visitors to the area.  

The Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission voted on Wednesday to proceed with talks with officials with the Univerfsity of Louisiana at Lafayette to acquire land along Cajundome Boulevard to build the complex. 

It's being funded by the 2% tax on hotels across the parish, which will generate about $2 million a year.
