Today, Foodwise welcomes SFUSD students back to the farmers market for field trips, filling the farmers’ stands with their curious and boisterous energy, and filling their bellies with fresh, healthy produce. After meeting the farmers and selecting fruits and veggies using free market tokens, students will taste their discoveries with a renewed sense of agency in their food choices, whether strawberries or peaches, zucchini or broccoli.
“All kids deserve access to fresh produce and exposure to farmers markets and food education,” says Nesley Rojo, our Foodwise Kids Education Manager. “By providing these positive early experiences at the farmers market, we can make sure kids feel empowered not only in choosing what they eat, but in becoming the change makers in their community.”
You help make these transformative experiences possible for San Francisco youth when you donate to Foodwise. We are in the final moments of our Back to School, Back to the Farmers Market fundraising push, with just 2 days to go.If you have already donated, thank you! If you haven’t given yet, we still need your support. We are $9,380 away from our $30,000 fundraising goal, and you can help get us to the finish line!
Like you, we believe every kid deserves access to fresh, healthy food. Foodwise education programs serve 3,000 SFUSD students each year, prioritizing low-income families who are eligible for free and reduced lunch. As kids go back to school, we need your help today to keep programs like Foodwise Kids and Foodwise Teens going strong to help meet the demand from teachers and students.
Help us grow our farmers market community by investing in the next generation to be the food leaders of tomorrow. Will you help get us to our $30,000 goal with a donation today? Whatever amount you can give will make a difference for our students.Thank you! |
