TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 2024 TODAY: Mostly Sunny, Hot Highs: 90-95 Feels Like: Mid to Upper 90s Winds: South 5-10 mph It's a warm and muggy start to the day and this afternoon with be hot and humid. Afternoon highs will climb into the low 90s with feels-like temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. As always, remember to practice heat safety by staying hydrated, taking breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and avoiding strenuous activity during the afternoon. We're in for a prolonged period of heat and humidity, which can be very taxing for our bodies. WEDNESDAY: Partly Cloudy Highs: 88-92 Winds: Southeast 5-10 mph Our Juneteenth holiday is looking dry and continued hot; although, high temperatures will be the lowest out of the next 7 days. THURSDAY: Mostly Sunny Highs: 90-95 Feels Like: 95-99 Thursday marks the start of summer with the solstice occurring at 4:50 p.m. It will be a sunny and hot start to the season with afternoon highs peaking in the low 90s. FRIDAY & THIS WEEKEND: Our June heat wave peaks this weekend with air temperatures reaching the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. Feels-like temperatures will range from 100 to 105 degrees. Remember your heat safety tips: hydrate, take plenty of breaks in the shade if you must be outside, otherwise, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon, and apply and reapply sunscreen.
