FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2024 TODAY: Partly to Mostly Cloudy Highs: 42-47 Winds: Northeast 5 mph Bundle up out the door with temperatures below freezing. It will be cooler than yesterday with more clouds, but no precipitation is expected. High temperatures will climb into the upper 30s in our northwester suburbs to mid 40s downtown. Winds will be light, so we won't have much of a wind chill, but it will still be cold, so dress warmly. Dry and cold weather is expected for your Friday night plans. TONIGHT: Mostly Cloudy Lows: 21-28 Winds: Light It will be another sub-freezing night with mostly cloudy skies. The clouds will hinder the view, but the Geminid meteor shower peaks tonight. Not only will the clouds limit the view, but the nearly full moon will make it harder to see the less bright meteors. SATURDAY: Partly Sunny Highs: 38-44 Winds: East 5-10 mph After a freezing cold start, high temperatures will climb into the upper 30s to low 40s. It will be dry with relatively light winds for your outdoor plans. SUNDAY: Mostly Cloudy, Late PM Showers Highs: 43-48 Winds: East 5-10 mph It will be another freezing cold start with temperatures in the 20s. It will become overcast with highs in the 40s and light winds. Our next weather maker will approach from the west bringing our next chance for precipitation. Latest guidance brings in our best chance of wet weather around sunset. There's a chance for a wintry mix in the mountains with a cold rain set to arrive late Sunday night. At this point, plan for wet pavement for the Monday morning commute.
NEXT WEEK: Rain chances continue through Monday morning. There is another chance of rain Tuesday, mainly early day. The end of next week we are looking at another storm. This one could bring another chilly rain on Thursday, December 19th followed by the potential for some late night snow showers. Colder air will spill in just in time for the weekend before Christmas.
