The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory through NOON for visibilities that could drop below 1/4 mile. TODAY: MORNING FOG ALERT Mostly Cloudy, Chance for Showers Highs: 56-62 Winds: South5-10 mph Areas of dense fog will greet you this morning with low clouds hanging tough for much of the day. Temperatures will be well above average; topping out in the upper 50s to low 60s. A passing shower is possible this morning or afternoon with rain likely this evening.
TONIGHT: Rain Likely Temperatures: 50s and 60s Winds: South 5-10 mph Rain is likely tonight with temperatures holding steady in the upper 50s to low 60s. A quarter to a half inch of rain is possible overnight. WEDNESDAY: STORM ALERT Rain Likely, Heavy at Times Windy with Falling Temperatures Late Highs: 57-63 Winds: SW 5-10 mph to NW 10-15, Gusts 25+ mph late day Plan for an impactful weather day with periods of heavy rain, as a strong cold front approaches. There's even a chance for a few rumbles of thunder. The Storm Prediction Center has the DMV in the 'Marginal' risk category for storms that could contain damaging winds. Rainfall totals will be over 1", so plan for ponding on area roadways. Rainfall will be heavy through the afternoon with rain tapering off from west to east shortly after sunset. Winds will increase by 4 p.m., as they shift out of the northwest ushering in cooler air. Temperatures will fall into the 40s after sunset with wind chills falling into the 30s.
THURSDAY: COLD ALERT Partly Cloudy, Breezy Highs: 38-46 Wind Chills: 20s & 30s Winds: West 10-15, Gusts 25 mph Drier and cooler weather returns Thursday with highs in the 40s. Factor in northwesterly breezes and feels-like temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s throughout the day. FRIDAY & THIS WEEKEND: Dry and cold weather is expected Friday and Saturday with morning temperatures in the 20s (and areas of frost) and afternoon highs in the 40s.
