Mirror, mirror: Vanity isn’t only for humans

When you capture an animal on the loose, you usually have to trick it or trap it. This is because wild animals aren’t used to being handled, and will often run at the sight of a human approaching. But a recent incident with a mountain lion in San Francisco is causing some animal control agents to rethink their approach.

The creature had apparently been wandering around the city for some time, but it was only when he stopped to look at his reflection in a window that gave agents an opening. Once he caught a glance at his beautiful self, the lion sat mesmerized and refused to budge. This gave animal control plenty of time to safely capture the mountain lion and usher him back to the wilderness. They didn’t even need to use sedatives! Maybe he’s just born with it.

No, the lion wasn’t wearing makeup. But if he was, it might have been even easier to catch him.
