| Arizona approves $8B SunZia HVDC transmission line |

| Wow, does it take a long time to get a transmission line approved. This week’s announcement that the 550-mile SunZia Transmission line is almost — but not fully — approved comes a whopping 13 years after it was first recognized by the U.S. federal government. Indeed, the Bureau of Land Management issued a notice of intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for the project in the Federal Register on May 29, 2009 and you can bet there was plenty of planning taking place before the BLM got involved. And this week, it’s getting closer to breaking ground. |
