1. Use report covers for your work surface. Keeping the clay inside the report cover helps keep the clay hydrated, ensures a smooth finish when rolling, and keeps your roller oil‑free. (The roller never touches the clay so you do not have to oil it.) Also, if you have to stop to find a tool or texture, just put the cover over the clay so it doesn't dry out.
2. Take advantage of all the tutorial videos and projects available for free online. Cool Tools has an amazing video library with fantastic instructors on a variety of topics. Fire Mountain Gems has a metal clay section with step‑by‑step instruction sheets. There are tons of resources available.
