Plus plant bugs and 5 signs you’re being undervalued at work
Do you have flying bugs in your indoor plants? Those might be fungus gnats, and boy are they annoying. I’ve figured out a three-step system to getting them gone and keeping them gone: watering with mosquito dunks, using Bonide systemic insect control granules in certain severe cases or when other pests are involved, too, and setting up yellow sticky traps to catch any remaining strays or warn me that the fungus gnats are making a comeback. The easiest option is the mosquito dunks. Just break off a quarter of a dunk, drop it in a gallon jug of water, let it sit for 24 hours or so, then use that water on your plants every time you water until the problem is gone. The dunks contain a bacteria that is toxic to mosquito and fungus gnat larvae but not other living things like pets, fish and humans, so you can rest assured it’s safe and should end the quick life cycle of the gnats so your issue is under control. Happy growing season! Janie |
