We looked at on-prem vs. cloud P5 deployment, compared archive storage media, handling previews/proxies/meta-data, drag-and-drop archiving.

Exploring P5 & TrueNAS with storage experts Starline

In our upcoming Webinar Wednesday, we look at top-tier NAS solutions from German vendor Starline. Based on open-source FreeBSD-based TrueNAS OS, Starline build high-performance bespoke storage solutions for media and enterprise customers, with P5 providing backup and archive to local LTO, disk or cloud storage.

We will look at an NVME-based TrueNAS storage appliance via a live demo, exploring config options in its GUI, and test disk performance and push some completed project data to tape using P5.

We'll be joined by Mohammad Ammar, Starline's storage expert, to guide us and take your questions.

Enhanced LTFS Support with P5 Archive

With the release of version 6.1, Archiware created an entirely new cross-platform LTFS driver that brings features and convenience not seen before with LTFS software products. Archiware's approach removes the need for the open-source 'FUSE' software used by competitive products, allowing direct control of the tape media, while maintaining full ISO/IEC compatibility.

LTFS formatted LTO tapes are supported by the P5 Archive module. Users wishing to archive data to tape, with full indexing, searching, thumbnail generation and meta-data ingest, can now choose between two different tape formats: P5 Volume Format and LTFS Volume Format.
