Workers ask Court not to Dismiss Gender Discrimination LawsuitSan Francisco, CA Two former X Corp. workers in February 2024 implored a California federal court to go ahead with their proposed class action labor lawsuit alleging gender discrimination. The plaintiffs said X's argument that they failed to allege that X exhibited a pattern of practice of discriminatory behavior should be rejected because they now have enough detail, and evidence indicating Musk’s own biases, to survive the company's motion to dismiss.
44 Million Americans Drink PFAS-Contaminated Water, Says New StudyWashington, DC Data released by the Environmental Protection Agency shows that 44 million people in the U.S. have toxic “forever chemicals” known as PFAS in their drinking water, but that could be just the tip of the iceberg as the full scale of PFAS contamination is likely much more widespread. However, scientists at the Environmental Working Group (EWG) estimated in 2020 that more than 200 million Americans are exposed to forever chemicals in their drinking water.

Stryker Overtime Lawsuit Goes AheadSanta Clara, CA Last month Stryker sales associates won a series of procedural victories in their California labor overtime lawsuit. The complaint claims that the giant medical device company failed to pay its sale associates overtime wages, failed to provide meal and rest breaks, and failed to reimburse their business expenses. Stryker classified them as outside sales exempt during training, but plaintiffs allege they were misclassified as overtime-exempt.
PAGA To Face Critical Test on November 2024 BallotSacramento, CA On November 5, 2024, Californians will choose whether to preserve the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) in its present form or replace it with the proposed California Fair Pay and Employer Accountability Act (FPEAA). Since it became law in 2003, PAGA has been an important element of many California labor lawsuits, and is often understood to function as an important deterrent to employer wage theft. Roughly 5,000 PAGA notices are filed annually.
