BY ADAM DAIGLE | Staff writer If you're a child of the 80s or older, you'll probably remember a little zydeco song that exploded in popularity that was sung by a guy from St. Landry Parish. It's been 40 years since the song "My Toot Toot" came out of a recording studio in Ville Platte and went big. It brought Louisiana music to the world and remains the only zydeco song that's topped the million mark for sales. The song won a Grammy award for best folk recording, made it to the No. 19 spot on the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Singles list, and went platinum. Staff writer Joanna Brown took a look back at its impact and how Sidney Simien's song changed the lives of so many people. You can read the story here. Have a great day and thanks for reading. |
