Click here In this month's newsletter, we talk about BVE London, brand-new Archiware Pure, how to run an Archiware & Synology setup, Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape strategies and the Archive Storage Calculator, plus some interesting links and videos. Thank you for a great BVE!It's more than a week since BVE Show in London, and we're still buzzing - the show this year was busier than ever. A perfect place to meet our customers and present Archiware P5 and our new product Archiware Pure. BVE was also a great opportunity to catch up with our partners AJA, Cantemo, CatDV, DDP, FocalPoint Server, Global Distribution, HPE, mLogic, Oracle, Promise, Quantum, ScaleLogic, Sonnet, Spectra Logic and ToolsOnAir - the largest number of partners at BVE ever - and see their latest products. It's a privilege to be part of such an amazing network of partners. Last but not least, we would like to thank our UK distributor JPY for heading up the Archiware booth and our resellers Boxer Systems, Digital Garage, NMR, Root6 and Trams for representing us at the show. ![]() Be a beta tester for Archiware Pure VMware Backup!Archiware is proud to present the beta version of our upcoming new product: Archiware Pure VMware Backup - innovative, reliable, easy to use. We would like to thank all those who have already tested Archiware Pure and given us their feedback! Based on this, we have just released a new beta version with a few bug fixes and ESXi 6.5 support. More information and the download for Archiware Pure is available right now Archiware Pure is a virtual appliance and therefore a stand-alone product. It is not part of the P5 Suite. How to install your Synology & Archiware setupAs of release of version 5.3 last November, the Archiware P5 suite is compatible with Synology NAS systems. This new feature has hit a spot with our customers and resellers who like the ease of use and the competitive pricing Synology NAS systems have to offer. Our friend and long-time user and integrator of P5, Mat X., has now taken the time to compose a comprehensive blog post explaining the installation process of a Synology NAS with Archiware P5, including helpful tips and screenshots. Thank you, Mat - this will be a big help to other Synology users! Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape - more security for your dataBacking up your data is absolutely essential in case of hardware failure, user error or natural disaster. For that purpose, a simple tape backup is a good starting point. For maximum data security, however, you should stick to the 3-2-1 rule of backup: three copies of a file, on at least two different types of media, one of which is stored offsite. This may sound complicated, but it's easily achieved in a disk-to-disk-to-tape setup: In a first step, data is cloned to a secondary disk storage. In step 2, that secondary disk storage is backed up onto tape (ideally in duplicate, so one set can be stored offsite and one kept available in the tape library). For more details, read our blog post on D2D2T strategies. ![]() How much storage space could you save?Do you know how much storage space is needed for your daily production output? Or how much space you could save by migrating your assets to a tape Archive? Thomas Waldinger, developer of the Archive Assistant add-on to P5 Archive, has created a storage calculator that will do the maths for you for many acquisition and editing formats.
