| May 12, 2022 Welcome to the BRAND NEW Stock Dork Premarket Report, your go-to guide for the day's biggest trading news and hottest premarket stocks. Today is Thursday, May 12th. Let's get ready to trade! |
The S&P 500 fell 1.7% on Thursday after April's CPI report revealed that inflation remained near a 40-year high during the month. The Dow lost 1.0%, and the Nasdaq tumbled 3.2%. The small-cap Russell 2K fell 2.5%. Today, futures are pointing to more declines in today's session. S&P 500 contracts are currently pointing to a 0.7% loss. American Tower [AMT] - Last Close: $224.72 American Tower is trending on a business update. The cell tower company announced yesterday that its subsidiary, CoreSite, had made several innovative new product enhancements to its software-defined networking platform, the Open Cloud Exchange (OCX). Some new enhanced services mentioned in the Wednesday press release include new automations, improved integrations with Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS, and direct cloud-to-cloud communication capabilities on CoreSite's managed virtual routers. AMT is leading the S&P 500 with a 3.0% gain on the news. Coupang [CPNG] - Last Close: $9.67 Strong earnings results are rallying shares of Coupang. The Korean eCommerce company reported a better-than-expected Q1 loss of ($0.12) per share, beating the Street's estimate of ($0.17) by 29.4%. Coupang's Q1 revenues of $5.12 billion marked year-over-year sales growth of 22% but just missed the consensus target of $5.25 billion. However, active customers increased by 13% YoY. CPNG is trading actively with a 16.9% gain. Allena Pharmaceuticals [ALNA] - Last Close: $0.0780 Allena Pharmaceuticals is skyrocketing after some sharp price moves. The pharma stock has suffered some major declines as of late, especially in the wake of its recent announcement of a $2.8 million direct offering. The stock lost 9.0% on Wednesday, but the chart might be showing signs that the sell-off is bottoming out. Today, ALNA is surging to a huge gain ahead of the opening bell despite no major news on the stock. It could be a signal that investors are beginning to see value in the stock, or it could be a targeted pump-and-dump. Either way, the stock is up big. ALNA is this morning's most active stock, and it's up 90.5%. Salarius Pharmaceuticals [SLRX] - Last Close: $0.1600 Salarius Pharmaceuticals is rallying on promising regulatory news. The clinical-stage biotech company announced after Wednesday's closing bell that it had successfully completed its pre-Investigational New Drug meeting process for SP-3164 for use in hematological cancers and solid tumors. Salarius plans to submit an IND application in 2023 for the drug candidate, and the company obtained valuable clinical input from the meeting with regulators from the US Food & Drug Administration. The company plans to initiate its first clinical trials for the drug in 2023 upon receiving IND clearance from the FDA. News of the regulatory progress is lifting SLRX to a 38.8% gain, and it's one of this morning's most actively-traded stocks. |
