Thanks to you, the farmers market has been a place of nourishment, community, and hope for Bay Area families and California farmers throughout the uncertainty of the last year. You prove that an equitable and sustainable local food system is possible when all of us do our part: showing up for our farmers, ensuring healthy food for neighbors in need, and investing in our kids through food education.
This month, 138 generous community members—market supporters, volunteers, vendors, board members, and staff—have stepped up to support Foodwise’s food access and education programs in 2023. We just have 4 days and $11K left to reach our year-end goal of $60,000 by December 31. Will you help us meet our goal by donating today?
Like you, we believe healthy food is a right, not a privilege. The number of customers using CalFresh (food stamps) at Foodwise farmers markets has risen 67% in the last year alone. We’ve welcomed hundreds of new shoppers and increased funds for Market Match, which doubles low-income families’ fresh food dollars at the farmers market, while directing vital income to small local farmers and food makers.
With food and living costs soaring, the need for Bay Area families to stretch their fresh food dollars at the farmers market is not going away. Help us keep programs like Market Match fully funded, so that families on a budget can access fresh food at the farmers market in the New Year.
