Shuttle Pharmaceuticals [SHPH] - Last Close: $1.77 Shuttle Pharma is taking off after a Thursday announcement. After yesterday's closing bell, the pharma firm announced it had issued a $3.4 million senior secured convertible note maturing in March 2025. Shuttle said the note was issued to an institutional investor, and the transaction generated roughly $4 million in net proceeds for the company. The unnamed institutional investor also received a four-year warrant to buy up to 1.02 million shares at a price of $2.35 apiece. News of the institutional investment is boosting SHPH in today's premarket. The stock is currently up 15.8%. My Take: This stock has only been on the market for a few months, so the market could see this institutional investment as a vote of confidence for the up-and-coming pharma firm. Biomea Fusion [BMEA] - Last Close: $7.22 An analyst note is boosting shares of Biomea Fusion today. Early this morning, HC Wainwright & Co. analyst Joseph Pantginis reiterated his "buy" rating on BMEA and maintained his $37 price target. Biomea's stock has fallen substantially since mid-September. Earlier this year, shares were trading at a high of $14.20. BMEA is currently down 46.0% from its September high, but the stock is recapturing a big chunk of lost ground in today's premarket. Shares of BMEA are currently up 19.6% ahead of the opening bell. My Take: This biotech stock could have potential. Despite its recent losses, its share prices have held up much better in the face of broad market declines than many comparable competitors. Blue Apron Holdings [APRN] - Last Close: $0.9150 A short squeeze is developing in Blue Apron. The meal prep delivery company is breaking out today despite no major news reports or other obvious catalysts. Online chatter points to a targeted buying campaign by traders attempting to capitalize on the stock's absurdly high short percentage. As of Dec. 30th, more than 50% of APRN shares were out on short sales. Today, it appears the shorts are scrambling to cover their positions in response to the stock's strong gains, and the buying is throwing more fuel on the fire. APRN is one of today's top stocks with a 31.1% gain on active trading volume. My Take: APRN started rallying on Thursday, and it maintained its momentum through the close and into today's premarket. However, it's anyone's guess how much higher it can go before the inevitable pullback begins. Guardforce AI [GFAI] - Last Close: $0.18 Guardforce AI just landed two landmark contracts. The Thailand-based security company announced it secured two long-term contracts with preexisting clients for secured logistics & cash handling services. One contract with Don Muang Tollway Public Co. has a term of five-years, and it includes the deployment of Guardforce Deposit Machines at key toll plazas. Guardforce also signed a three-year deal with an unnamed retailer for cash-in-transit and counting services for 326 retail stores in Northern Thailand. Shares of GFAI are up 18.2% on news of the new contracts. My Take: GFAI has shown some signs of life over the past two weeks. A modest up-trend may be emerging in the stock, but be prepared for a lot of volatility if you want to trade this stock.
