INDUSTRY NEWS ATLANTA: Music legends Dallas Austin and Jermaine Dupri—in collaboration with the Pop Up Agency and title sponsors Patrón Tequila and Intercept Wines by Charles Woodson—present the Atlanta 50th Hip-Hop Experience at Underground Atlanta. This immersive pop-up experience, open now through Oct. 27, is hosted on the upper level of Underground Atlanta and pays homage to the pioneers, originators, and pillars of rap music who have emerged from Atlanta. The experience includes a captivating timeline, historical artifacts such as floppy discs and drum machines, interactive galleries, and multimedia presentations that chronicle Atlanta's pivotal role in shaping the evolution of hip-hop. LAS VEGAS: MGM Resorts International will host a weekend celebration in honor of Mexican Independence Day. Guests will have the opportunity to commemorate the holiday with festivities and entertainment at select venues Sept. 15-16. For example, guests at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino are invited to dance the night away and enjoy food, specialty craft cocktails, and live entertainment at Level Up, Centrifuge, and Whiskey Down. In addition to the fun activities at each venue, a taco cart will be open 9 p.m.-4 a.m. at Centrifuge. LEXINGTON, KY.: FoodChain and 21c Lexington are joining together to combat food insecurity with a new event. Harvest aims to be a fabulous culinary event for foodies and lovers of fine contemporary art and music. It will be held Sept. 7 at the 21c Museum Hotel in downtown Lexington. Expect small bites crafted by the FoodChain culinary team; an open bar featuring curated cocktails by Lockbox mixologists, Kentucky bourbon, local beer, and wine; and live music from Origins Jazz Series. MONTEREY, CALIF.: The Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau (MCCVB) announced its rebranding as See Monterey. The rebrand is headlined by a new brand platform called “Find Your Way Here." It's considered "an open invitation to not only travel to Monterey County but to seek connectivity within." The rebrand follows nearly a year of research and development including focus groups and surveys with drive, short-haul, and long-haul markets. NASHVILLE, TENN.: Backline, a nonprofit organization that provides mental health and wellness resources to the music industry and their family members, announced Handle With Care, a World Mental Health Day benefit on Oct. 10. The event, a tribute to Tom Petty, will feature performances by Wynonna Judd, Brittney Spencer, Charles Wesley Godwin, Ella Langley, Maggie Rose, Sierra Hull, Vince Herman, Derek Wells, and more.
