| Police tape blocks a sidewalk along West Seventh Street in St. Paul, a block west of the Xcel Energy Center, on Sunday, after a shooting earlier in the morning. Jon Collins | MPR News | By Tim Nelson One person died and at least 14 others were injured after gunfire broke out early Sunday in a bar along West Seventh Street in St. Paul, leaving what authorities described as a "hellish" scene with victims inside the building and out on the street. The St. Paul Police Department reported just before noon Sunday that three men â ages 29, 32 and 33 â had been arrested in connection with the shooting, and were among those being treated for injuries. St. Paul police spokesperson Steve Linders said earlier Sunday that officers encountered a chaotic scene just after midnight when they arrived at the Seventh Street Truck Park bar and food hall, just west of the Xcel Energy Center. âThis is nothing short of a tragedy,â Linders said. âWe had people in the city of St. Paul, out on a Saturday night, having a good time. And we had other people who decided to pull guns with reckless disregard for human life, and pull the trigger over and over and over and over again. And it ended in tragedy. Our hearts break for the young woman who died and for her loved ones. And for everybody who was in that bar.â Read the full report and check back for updates as we continue to cover this news. | |

| Mai Huynh gets her daughter Franny Birkholm ready for day care as her husband Chris Birkholm does the same for their son Clinton Birkholm. Evan Frost | MPR News | By Catharine Richert A fourth wave of COVID-19 is colliding with an early start to RSV season, as well as other respiratory viruses that typically crop up this time of year, said Mayo Clinic pediatrician Dr. Angela Mattke. It's a pattern that may hold for months and that could further strain an already strapped health care system, she said. âIt's going to make it extremely difficult in these winter months if we're seeing COVID-19 peaks, if we're seeing influenza, we're seeing other circulating viruses like RSV, coronavirus,â Mattke said. âWe're going to see a large influx of sick kids to doctor's office emergency room visits to hospitals." The confusing array of symptoms and viruses are creating logistical challenges for families. | |
