Large Bitcoin wallets from early years have frightened the market, after several of these "whales" have begun to transfer coins at the same time.

Part of the crypto community on Twitter has speculated that there may be worrying reasons behind the moves, such as a security breach of an old wallet generator or an anticipation of bad news to come.

The identities of these whales are unknown, and none of them has publicly stated why they are making the moves.

👉 Visa Reveals Plans For Ambitious Crypto Product

Visa's cryptocurrency division is working on a stablecoin payment product designed to facilitate the digital commerce of everyday life, according to Cuy Sheffield, head of crypto at the company.

The product is intended to drive the mainstream adoption of public blockchain networks and stablecoin payments, and is being developed with the help of senior software engineers focused on programming, backend systems and Web3 technologies, according to a Visa job posting.

Visa has been expanding its cryptocurrency offering since partnering with Circle to support the USD Coin stablecoin on certain credit cards in 2020.

The number of unique traders on Ethereum-based decentralized exchanges (DEXs) hit 72,000 on April 19, the highest since the end of 2021.

"Memecoins" such as PEPE have seen a surge in trading activity, reaching over $100 million in trading volume. The spike in DEX trading activity led to an increase in Ethereum gas fees to around 73 gwei on April 19, which has since dropped to about 43 gwei.
