Make Room for Something New Sometimes God does something new in an instant. Other times, it begins with a nudge â a shift in desire, a closed door, an unexpected opportunity. July is a new month, and that means itâs a good time to ask: Am I open to something new, or am I just surviving the same routine? The truth is, we often say we want new things â but resist the change required to receive them. We want the clarity, the role, the breakthrough⊠but we cling to whatâs familiar, even when it no longer fits. But Scripture is clear: God does new things. Not just once in a lifetime â but in seasons. In months. In moments. âSee, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?â â Isaiah 43:19 So what might He be inviting you to perceive this month? 1. Let Go of Whatâs Safe but Stagnant Change is rarely comfortable. Think about Abraham â God didnât give him a full map before telling him to leave everything familiar behind (Genesis 12:1). And Peter? He dropped his nets, stepping into the unknown just because Jesus called him (Matthew 4:19-20). Sometimes, God asks us to release whatâs comfortable â not because itâs wrong, but because itâs no longer the right fit for where Heâs leading us next. Holding on too tightly can actually hold us back from His best. So this month, take a moment and ask yourself: What parts of my life or work am I gripping just because they feel safe â even if deep down I know theyâre stopping me from growing? Letting go isnât easy, but itâs often the first step toward something greater. 2. Pay Attention to the Pull Godâs voice is often gentle and quiet. Elijah searched for God in thunder and fire but found Him in the stillness (1 Kings 19:11-12). This reminds us that God often works quietly, guiding us step by step. Isaiah 30:21 says, âWhether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, âThis is the way; walk in it.ââ We must be careful not to miss Godâs whisper while waiting for dramatic signs. That gentle pull in your heart, the quiet conviction to move forward or trust Him more deeplyâthat is Godâs guidance. This month, watch for those small promptings. The Lordâs leading may come softly, but it is sure. Trust His voice and walk in the path He shows. 3. Be Available, Not Just Ambitious The Christian life calls us to run with endurance and purpose, as Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 9:24. Yet, ambition without submission can become self-centered striving rather than God-honoring service. Look at Maryâs response when the angel announced Godâs plan: âI am the Lordâs servant. May your word to me be fulfilled.â (Luke 1:38). Mary didnât fully understand what lay ahead, but her heart was fully surrendered to Godâs will. This is the posture God desires from usânot just to chase after our own goals, but to be available to His calling. It requires humility and trust, a willingness to say âyesâ even when the future is uncertain. If you want God to do something new in your life this month, start by making yourself available. Lay down your agenda. Open your heart and hands to receive Godâs plan. It is in surrender that we find strength and direction. 4. Expect Good Things â Without Forcing Them Waiting on God is one of the most challenging yet crucial parts of our walk with Him. Psalm 5:3 says, âIn the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.â Notice the word expectantlyâthis isnât passive waiting, but a confident hope that God is already at work. Often, we want Godâs promises to materialize immediately. We want breakthroughs, answers, and new opportunities on our timetable. But Godâs ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). His timing is perfect, even when it doesnât match our expectations. Waiting does not mean doing nothing. It means trusting God with your hopes and actively preparing your heart and life for whatâs coming. It means continuing to pray, serve, and walk in obedienceâeven when the outcome isnât yet visible. This month, remind yourself that God is faithful. His plans are good, and His timing is best. When He says He is doing a new thing, it will come to pass. But He asks for your patience and trust until that day arrives. So expect good things. Expect God to move. But donât rush Him or force His hand. Trust in His perfect timing and rest in His faithfulness. Final Thoughts: July is a fresh startâan invitation to trust Godâs timing and step into what Heâs doing. Let go, listen closely, and say yes to His plan. If youâre ready for work that honors your faith, visit ChristianJobs.com.au to find your next opportunity. Make room for new beginnings.
