Hi There, The fight to save Net Neutrality is down to the wire and you better believe we’re keeping score. This week is the last chance for members of Congress to sign the discharge petition and support the CRA before they go home to face constituents. Put simply, it’s time to put up or shut up. Your activism won the fight in the Senate and it’s why we’re building momentum right now in the House. Just last week, Rep. Mike Coffman of Colorado became the first Republican representative to sign the discharge petition and indicate his support for the Net Neutrality CRA. This is a big deal, no question about it, but we still have our work cut out for us. 218 is the magic number. As of today there are 177 members of Congress signed on to the discharge petition, which means we need to get 49 more reps to come onboard if we’re going to save Net Neutrality this year. We need to build a tidal wave of momentum this week and carry that energy into on-the-ground action during the month of August. Be a part of this week’s Net Neutrality tidal wave by calling Congress right now. By the end of this week every member of Congress will have decided whether they want to spend the month of August on Team Internet or Team Cable. That decision will have consequences. We’ll be in touch soon with more ways for you to get involved when your rep returns home for the August recess, but for now, pick up your phone and help make sure grassroots pressure beats the ISP lobby. In solidarity, Adam, Lucia and the rest of the Free Press Action Fund team P.S. It’s time for members of the House to pick a side. Tell your rep to sign the Net Neutrality CRA and reject the FCC’s efforts to hand control of the internet to companies like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon. P.P.S. Free Press Action Fund and our partners at Battle for the Net have updated our scoreboard showing which members of Congress are on Team Internet and which are on Team Cable. Make sure you check it out and share it with friends, family, and colleagues around the country. To save the net, we’ll need everyone bringing the heat. | |
