| | The 2020 Legislative Session has begun. We hope to continue the legislative successes from 2019, and we need your help advocating for critical legislation!
Sierra Club Maine is a proud member of Maine’s Environmental Priorities Coalition (EPC), and we are excited to announce the 2020 Environmental Priorities Agenda:- LD 1923: Designate PFAS as a Hazardous Substance - Protect our public health and environment
- LD 911: Protect Maine's Land, Water, and State Parks - Invest in the Land for Maine's Future Program to protect Maine’s natural resources and quality of life
- LD 1832: Protect Clean Water in Maine - Support critical funding to help the State protect Maine's rivers, lakes, and streams.
- LD Pending: Strengthen Maine’s Municipal Recycling Programs - Save you, the taxpayer money by making recycling more effective
In addition to those priorities, our Legislative Team (comprised of volunteer members) has voted to advocate for other important pieces of legislation. Most importantly, we are focusing our efforts to create a Consumer-Owned Utility, LD 1646.
As a Maine voter, use your voice to support our priority legislation by calling your legislators, writing letters to the editor, and testifying at the State House. See more information on our Legislative Team page.
Upcoming Events & Key Dates:
1/23- Briefing for Legislators on the Consumer-Owned Utility (LD 1646). Contact your senators and representatives to attend this briefing and support this bill!
1/29- Youth Voices for Climate Council: 10am - 3pm at the Augusta Civic Center. Encourage Youth to attend. See more details here.
2/13- Lobby Day- For all members/supporters/youth to learn about the legislative process at the State House. More information TBD.
