Hey, Today I’ve got 2 quick stories to help dial in your morning routine... ... So you can make more money and have a better quality of life. 1. The Billionaire, The Bag, and Billion Dollar Morning Routine The first billionaire I met... I originally thought was a homeless man. I was sitting at a bar on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua watching the sun melt into the ocean. We were waiting for the billionaire to join our group... But when a tall, lanky man in his early 60’s showed up – complete with a raggedy duffle sack – I thought he was at the wrong table. The billionaire’s business partner teased him about his old travel bag. “That ratty thing must be 20 years old,” the business partner joked. “Wrong,” the billionaire said, “It’s 25.” Later I found out he still flew coach... even though he was 6 foot 4... and a billionaire! The simplicity of his approach to life extended to his daily routine. “I get up early and use the outhouse,” the billionaire joked before turning serious… “Then I pour a coffee and sit down at the kitchen table to work on my #1 priority for several hours.” “I’ve repeated that morning routine six days a week since 1979.” “If you think,” he said looking at the group of young, ambitious entrepreneurs sitting in a circle around him, “that there’s any other path to success, you’re foolish.” With that, he finished his glass of Malbec, bid everyone a good night, and went home early to get ready for the next morning. 2. Measure Your Time to Save Your Time Back at the peak of my anxiety attacks in 2006 I had a horrible morning routine. I’d wake up late (7:30), roll over, and check my email in bed on my phone. This guaranteed a terrible start to my day ... and increased my anxiety. One morning I said, “Enough is enough”. The next morning I woke up 5 minutes earlier and waited 5 minutes longer to check my phone. That guaranteed 10 minutes of working / thinking on my #1 priority. I repeated that 10-minute plan for a week and then I increased each action by another five minutes… giving me a window of 20 minutes to do important work. The week after I raised the bar to 30 minutes... and so on. This was a game changer. So... If it’s true that... a) What gets measured gets managed and... b) You use your phone too early & too often Then... A) Work to increase the time between when your wake up and when you start using your phone (measure this daily) B) Measure what you get accomplished during this phone-free time When you start to go 30, 60, and even 90 minutes without looking at your phone in the morning... you’ll notice that your ability to accomplish important work increases dramatically. This habit changed my life… Without it, I may never have finished writing my first book, The Perfect Day Formula… Or built multiple 7-figure businesses over the last 15 years. Put this principle to work for your own goals. I promise when you do, you'll accomplish amazing things. Success Loves Speed, Craig |
