Hello everyone, This is always my favourite time of year. So far weāve seen new iPhones, Pixels, Surface Pros, and multiple OS upgrades. I even got the new MacBook Pro Iāve been wishing for! š Making sure 1Password shines on all these new platforms keeps us busy. Updates for everybody š Letās start with Android: 1Password for Android now has Face Unlock! My Pixel 4 hasnāt arrived yet, but our lead Android dev managed to get his hands on one. Michael walks through all the new features his team has created and shows how gorgeous they look on the Pixel 4. Our iOS team released a great update that brings Voice Control, the ability to add files, and my personal favourite, Dark Mode. It looks absolutely gorgeous on my new iPhone 11 Pro. 1Password has full support for macOS Catalina thanks to our Mac team. There are a lot of security improvements in the new Safari, and youāll need 1Password 7 to enjoy them. To learn more about the cool new security features, check out Sarahās post on whatās new in macOS Catalina. For our Windows friends lucky enough to be getting a new Surface device, weāve made sure 1Password for Windows looks absolutely fabulous there. We also have support for the upcoming Microsoft Edge browser, currently in beta. You can see why Sarah has been thinking about switching to a Surface Pro. š As if thatās not enough, we recently launched 1Password Advanced Protection for businesses. And we needed a separate post to cover all the cool things weāre doing with our command-line tool and SCIM bridge. Whew! Thatās a lot of updates. Every year thereās more to do so we need to grow our team further to be ready for next year and beyond. Our growing team š Every year since Roustem and I founded 1Password in 2005 our team has grown. We did just fine managing things ourselves for a while, but when we got to 20 people we knew it was time to bring on a full-time CEO. I even gave a heartfelt Ćingleton talk on why we just couldnāt grow anymore otherwise. In 2012 Jeff joined our team as CEO and since then has doubled our team to 40, then again to 80, and yet again to 160. We now have 174 passionate people building and supporting 1Password each and every day. Yet even with all these awesome people the number of opportunities to explore and customers to support has increased even faster. Itās time for us to double again, and quite frankly, we will likely need to double a few more times after that. But, just like in 2012, we need additional support and guidance to grow further. Thankfully we found a partner and friend in Accel who has helped a ton of companies through similar growth. We invited Accel to join us, so 1Password can continue growing, and each of us can continue enjoying what we do best. š While writing the announcement post, I was overwhelmed by so many wonderful memories that we created over the past 14 years. Iād love to share with you our founding story and how we grew to where we are today: 14 years of growth: the 1Password story We only have these memories because so many amazing people joined our team. Iām looking forward to growing further and creating even more great memories over the next 14 years. Thank you for your support throughout all these years and making all of this possible. ā¤ļøš¤ And a bonus podcast episode š We recorded a special bonus episode of Random but Memorable where we discuss our Accel partnership and how we got here. Chatting with Matt gave us an opportunity to add some more context and colour to our big announcement. Tune in, and I know youāll be happy you did. Thereās something about the dulcet tones of Mattās voice that makes you crave more. My son Jack and I listen to every episode, and I suspect youāll find yourself doing the same. š Until next time, take care and please let us know if there is anything we can help you with.ā¤ļø P.S. This newsletter was so jam packed I didnāt get a chance to talk about Thanksgiving! Suffice it to say my tradition of celebrating both Canadian and US Thanksgivings is still alive and well. š„³š¦ |
