Happy lockdown eve! Back in lockdown again we go tomorrow, albeit a slightly different version with the children still all attending school. This day will represent different things for different people as we battle this awful virus. For some it’s loneliness or boredom, stuck at home with little social interaction as a pandemic roars outside. For others it’s stress, juggling children and commitments while working from home. Meanwhile, for many it represents an extension of furlough but for small businesses and the self -employed, particularly those able to get back on their feet recently, it represents a huge blow as they battle to survive. One ray of light is that many of those in retail or providing services have adapted to a more digital way of working and will be able to slide more easily into a web-based commerce. Another is that this lockdown has a time limit. It may be extended but at least it has that ending in sight . It’s hard to be positive in such difficult times for many but once again we are all in it together. We are about to launch a campaign to support local business, including free listings in our newspaper and online. If you are Lancashire-based and would like to be included please add details to this Google form. Kind regards and stay safe, Nicola ([email protected]) |
