Take Back Your Life Since spending can make people feel good, it’s likely more than one of us has been doing too much of it during the pandemic (guilty). But why do we let our spending get out of control, even when we know better? Here are five psychological principles that could be behind your bad spending decisions. Recognizing which ones trap you can be the first step out of a bad cycle.
Deal With It At the beginning of the pandemic, essential workers were lauded as heroes. But since then, they've largely been left out of conversation about working during COVID. The refrains from earlier on in the pandemic ― that “we’re all in this together” or “in the same boat” ― couldn’t be further from the truth, said Courtney Keim, an associate professor who studies organizational wellness at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.
“We aren’t all in the same boat,” she told HuffPost. “We are all in the same storm, but some of us are in yachts, some of us are in big boats and some of us are in rafts barely tied together.”
We spoke with essential workers who, although they understand why the conversation is important, are really, really sick of people complaining about going back to the office.
