Excited fans lined up from 05:30 on Thursday, 22 September in anticipation of the first day of Comic Con Africa.

The ultimate pop-culture and gaming festival returned this year after having to cancel in 2021 and hosting a smaller virtual event in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Each year that it has taken place, Comic Con Africa organisers have worked tirelessly to host international celebrities.

Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna, Henry Creel, and One simultaneously in the fourth season of the Netflix show Stranger Things, managed to surprise audiences on day two, three and four of the events, despite his attendance being announced three weeks prior to his arrival.

News24's Bronwyn McKay sat in on his panel discussion with host DJ Elliott on day two of Comic Con Africa.

During the onstage interview, Bower delved into his success in the industry, playing Vecna in Stranger Things, what it meant for him to meet his fans in Mzansi and more.

"I'm in South Africa! I mean, what's going on?" the actor said as he settled on the stage.
