A 14-year-old driver involved in a crash that claimed the life of a 15-year-old girl admitted to officers that she smoked marijuana and drank alcohol before the crash, a blood draw warrant revealed. The warrant states that the teen, whom KSAT is not identifying because she is a minor, told police she had been "sipping" on alcoholic drinks and taking hits from a marijuana joint prior to crashing her car through a wire fence, hitting multiple wooden posts and slamming into a tree, killing her passenger, Raylina Arizola. The crash happened in the 6500 block of Padre Drive around 10 p.m. According to preliminary information from police, the 14-year-old was traveling southbound on Padre Drive at a high rate of speed when she hit a curb, causing her to lose control of the car. Arizola was pronounced dead at the scene, and the three back seat passengers were taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The warrant states that the 14-year-old had a faint smell of alcohol on her breath and had red, glassy eyes when police talked to her. The teen declined to take a Breathalyzer test, according to court records, prompting authorities to obtain a warrant to draw her blood. The teen said she had been hanging out with some friends prior to the crash, but she was unable to tell police how the crash occurred, the warrant states. Raymond Arizola's daughter meant the world to him. He described Raylina as bright, spunky and beautiful. "When this happens to a parent, it feels like they just suck the whole purpose right out of your life," Arizola said. "Can anybody really picture moving forward from this? And if you do will it ever be the same," he said. Arizola said he plans to hold a vigil for his daughter later this week.
