I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for this yuck weather to move on out. We’ve actually been pretty lucky this winter, but then, that’s why we live in Texas, right? We try to let y’all know about important safety recalls – so here’s one that may affect your kiddoes. It’s actually a do-over. Contigo announced a second recall of nearly 6 million children’s water bottles because the replacement lid they sent out after last summer’s first recall is apparently a choking danger. Seems the lid’s spout can come off and end up in kids’ mouths. The recall affects bottles with black spout bases and covers. These were big sellers, so be careful. Contigo is offering new bottles. Consumer Reports released its annual list of “Top Picks” – cars, trucks, and SUVs they think are the top ten spanning various categories. Toyota had a good showing. If you need an SUV with a third row, they suggest the Kia Telluride. And, the Prius makes the list again for the top hybrid. Safety was a big factor in their choices this year. They required some specific safety features they think should be standard equipment on all trim levels. Consumer Reports: 10 ‘top picks’ cars, trucks, SUVs This week we visited with a dad of six kids , yes six, about an app he developed. It’s called Busykid. He’s all about teaching kids financial responsibility. Basically, the app turns the practice of paying your kids for chores into a digital experience. That’s a kid’s language, right? I never got paid for chores, nor did I regularly pay my kids for doing chores, but I liked this idea. I think it could reduce the nag factor. By the way, the app also lets kids dabble in microstocks.
