Happy almost-the-weekend y'all! This is my favorite time of year. The weather cools off (kind of), chili in the crockpot, the sounds of marching bands practicing, and pumpkins on porches. And …. the Spurs tip off their regular season next week! I'm hopeful we'll have plenty to cheer about. In consumer-land this week, we have some warnings to pass along. First, CPS Energy says scammers are at it again, calling people, demanding payment and threatening to cut off power. Sadly, folks have lost some $38,000 to the bad guys. First off, CPS Energy is NOT going to call and threaten you. If you have any questions, call CPS Energy for yourself to verify. If only the crooks would get a real job. CPS Energy warns customers of scammers demanding payment over the phone Among recalls this week, frozen yellowfin tuna. Mical, out of Florida, expanded its recall of several frozen tuna products because of excessive histamines that can be extremely dangerous to some people. The company says it shipped the recalled fish to markets and restaurants in 23 states, including Texas. So check your freezer if you think this may affect you. If you need a stroller, play mat, toys, and clothes for babies and little ones, you might want to check out the Just Between Friends consignment event at the Kendall County Fairground. The sale started Thursday, but runs through early Saturday—when stuff gets marked down, too! I had a chance to check it out as the 200 consignors were setting up.
