DALLAS/FORTH WORTH: The Arlington City Council has voted to approve a $550 million addition to the city's entertainment district. The project will include a new 888-room hotel called Loews Arlington, a publicly owned convention center, and a parking facility for 1,500 vehicles. The development will feature 150,000 square feet of indoor convention space, 66,000 square feet of outdoor space, and an exposition hall that will connect via a skybridge to the new 300 room Live! by Loews Hotel and it’s convention space, resulting in a roughly 1,200-room hotel. Construction is expected to begin in early 2020 and to be completed in 2023. LOS ANGELES: Toymaker MGA opens the L.O.L. Surprise pop-up in Chatsworth today. The temporary, family-friendly space features seven interactive installations, including a slide into a snow pit, a winter-theme disco, ice skating, and more. NEW YORK: The JFM Group, a New York-based company that provides strategic planning, fund-raising campaigns, and event and production management to nonprofit organizations, announced that founder Joan F. Morgan is selling it to vice president Jessica Marsillo. Marsillo will become the president and owner as of January 1, and Morgan will stay involved in the company as founder and senior consultant. PHOENIX: The Hyatt Regency Phoenix has completed a massive, multimillion-dollar floor-to-rooftop renovation. The property boasts 693 guest rooms and suites and 21 meeting spaces. WASHINGTON: The owner of Logan Circle's Donovan Hotel plans to undertake a $25 million renovation of the property and rebrand it as the Hotel Zena. Viceroy Hotels & Resorts will operate and manage the hotel, which will have 191 rooms, a not-yet-disclosed amount of meeting space, and a rooftop pool. It is expected to open in the second quarter of 2020. |
