From Mazar to Kabul, Afghanistan, and Cambodia to South Africa, Skateistan students participated in a rad day of skating and fun with their communities to celebrate the day. We introduced Go Skateboarding Day to Afghanistan in 2009, and for new Skateistan students, this is often the first opportunity they’ve had to skate in public with a group of friends.
From April to July this year, our Skate and Create students were studying the Natural Balance curriculum, which explores the cycles of the natural world and our place within it. Lessons included learning about self-esteem, recycling and the environment, as well as healthy living and nutrition.
To increase the impact that Skateistan has on the local community, we created a new learning environment for children at Skateistan in Cambodia. We built an interactive library space for students! It became an immediate draw for them and other children in the community, so much that we had to build an additional reading space to accommodate such a high number of kids.
The Skateistan Summer Collection 2019 is still going strong! Tote bags, caps, t-shirts, hip bags, we've got the swag for you. Proceeds go directly to supporting our programs in Afghanistan, Cambodia, and South Africa.
The Citizens of Skateistan is our global community of students, staff, skaters and supporters who share the dream of empowering and educating children through skateboarding. By donating $10 or more a month you become a Citizen and help make it possible for thousands of children to attend our programs worldwide.
